AZHJ & Samuel Hall Collaboration Announcement
AZHJ is pleased to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samuel Hall
Urban areas today face pressing challenges, including crises, insecurity, and forced migration. The benefits of urbanisation remain unevenly distributed, leaving many city dwellers excluded from housing, employment, and essential services. Meanwhile, cities contribute over half of global carbon emissions, making climate action urgent. Samuel Hall, through its dedicated research, amplifies the voices of displaced, migrant, and host communities, co-creating equitable solutions with city governments and urban residents. They focus on urban informality, local governance, migration, gender, and climate change.
At AZHJ, we share this vision, and we are excited to announce our strategic partnership with Samuel Hall. Our collaborative space, based in Leweibdeh, Amman, operates at the intersection of urbanism, design, and research methods, focusing on urban transformation through slow, intentional change. We focus on seven key areas: urban sociology, urban governance, social and spatial exclusion, environmental sociology, climate change, public space design, and economic development. Our work addresses displacement, urban inequalities, resilience, and climate adaptation while providing tailored, equitable solutions for city governments, urban residents and NGOs.
Key Aspects of the Partnership:
🔗 Interdisciplinary Urban Research: Combining AZHJ's expertise in urban studies with Samuel Hall's deep focus on migration and governance to create inclusive, sustainable city planning.
